Outreach programs are constantly being planned for presentation throughout the state of Louisiana as well as across the United States. These programs are in line with the Center’s goals and mission statement to promote, foster and engage in activities and endeavors that relate to Louisiana Creoles and their culture.

Southern California Genealogy 38th Annual JAMBOREE
June 8-10, 2007

A special lecture track, Louisiana-California Creole, is scheduled to be a part of the 38th annual Jamboree sponsored by the Southern California Genealogy Society.   

  • Presenters include Janet Colson, Terrel Delphin, Louis Metoyer, Dr. Dayna Lee, Caesar Guyot, Dr. Andrew Jolivette and other recognized Creole experts.
  • Planned lectures include: California Creole Migration - Hear the voices of Creole families who migrated to California. - La. to L.A.
  • Links to Creole Resources - The Creole Heritage Center has developed, cataloged, and made accessible a wealth of information through creation of its Creole Research Library. This discussion will help California researchers discover available resources.
  • The Creole Renaissance - The resurgence and acknowledgement of the Creole culture and history has continually grown over the past few years. The number of people who have embraced and proclaimed their Creole heritage continues to grow on a daily basis.
  • Louisiana Creole: Communication, Loss, and Public Health Crisis - This presentation looks at the necessity of taking Creole-related genealogical research beyond the quest to identify individual ancestors to the effort to reconstruct the history of an entire people.
  • PLUS - Access to the only national Creole Family History Database; Creole memorabilia items for purchase, Louisiana products gift baskets, AND, of course, THE Zydeco Dance.
